The problem that we solved was: given limited bandwidth over a satellite connection, how can we supply a high quality video feed from a UAV to a controller?

To approach this problem, we further redefined the problem posed to us: How can we provide the UAV controller a high-resolution enough image that they could pick out details in a passing landscape?

  • Developed novel algorithm for creating a simulated high resolution video feed from a of a series of discrete, high resolution images. Integrated work into existing commercial product.
  • Used C and OpenCV, teaching myself image processing to implement dynamic image stitching
  • Presented work to CTO and leadership team where the project was accepted as best in season
